Willow Dr.
", Greenwood Village, CO 80111-5142

Dear Gary:

You did it! You overcame innumerable technical, profe~;sional, and bureaucratic
obstacles to publish your paper on Jury Verdict - and you did it with style, professional
style. Technically, it was a complex set of issues woven together, you sorted them out.
Professionally, you effectively dealt with not orlly the tec:hnical issues but with the legal
issues and 'all the jealousy and fear surrounding boih, Bureaucratically, you dealt with
ASCE with patience and detennination - and That is a monumental feat in itself, My
congratulations!

I had taken a special interest in your paper since: coordinanng the peer reviews as
associate editor of our Journal, I felt at the time that it was a unique and important
contnbution that should be published, howevet, I knew others would see it as controversial.
I'm glad it had a happy ending.

I continue doing research with BEC and pursue various prof(~sional and personal
interests (relandscaping our backyard). I retired from the University lectUreship several
years ago - only one full-time job,

Best regards,

;:6-;a,

William K Johnson
