I

I

With that in mind, I invited two groups to make presentations, one
this morning, and the other this afternoon, and asked that they send
their most knowledgeable people to make the presentations. They have
responded and these knowledgeable gentlemen are here. So for this
morning's presentation by Colony Development, I would like to call
on Mr. Paul Kilburn to take over the presentation. Paul, I am'
pleased that you came and delight~d to have you and your, people 'here.

Ytr. Kilburn: Thank you, l'Jr.' Chairman, l'Ir. Stapleton, members of the
board, members of the audience and even Union Oil representatives.
How come they got on the program last, I would like to see you about
that later, Mr. Chairman!

(laughter)

Union Oil is our competitor, you know, downstream. You will pass
through their property tomorrow, those of you that go on the trip
and up to the Colony property.

I would like to introduce ~~. Lloyd Craft, who is with Colony. He
is going to be with you at all times, including tomorrow. Lloyd,
do you want to stand up, please. That same gentleman is here to
answer all the various questions.

The person most knowledgeable in our water use and water development
left the company yesterday. He is an engineer and he decided it was
time to get his law degree. The timing is unfortunate, but I will
endeavor to tell you what I can about water and other environmental
problems and studies that Colony has been doing. And if there are
questions that we cannot answer here this morning, we will be most
happy to take them home and either contact you individually or try
to steer you to somebody that can more completely answer your
questions. With that kind of apology, Ytr. Chairman, I will begin.

What I would like to do this morning is run through a slide show' that
we have prepared. I think it will give you a better broader pictur~
of the Colony program and some of the water problems in particular,

,
(slide)' That is probably a diagram you are well familiar with,' it .
is th~five-state region of the Green River formation of shale
deposits, the more valuable shale deposits in the dark orange. The
star indicates the location of the Colony Operation, just north of
the Colorado River.

(slide) Here is a rather interesting mineral ownership map. I think
perhaps you can see that. Some of you are familiar with this map
which Cameron Engineers have developed and on it we have outlines of
the Colony tract, the lease tract, CA tract. To the north of the
slide, and not showing, is the White River that runs along the margin
of the Piceance Basin that is outlined there and it includes most
of the White. To the southeast is the Colorado River. And the map
shows several features. First of all, it shows the lands which are

-2-
