.

.

.

242

DRAFT

· Priority call records will be digitized in support ofthe administration and surface water
models.

· Augmentation plan data for approximately 50 ofthe largest augmentation plans will be
digitized in support of the administration and surface water models.

. Two rated control sections will be developed on the mainstem of the South Platte River in
support of the administration and surface water models. The location of these rated control
sections will be determined by the Division 1 Engineer.

Alternative 3

In addition to those products developed in Alternatives 1 and 2, Alternative 3 will develop the
following:

· Data required to include the Republican River Basin in the SPDSS will be obtained. This
will include irrigated acreage, cropping patterns/land use and source of water supply for
current (2000) conditions and for three historic conditions (mid-1950s, 1970s and 1980s)
together with other necessary data detailed above. These data are required for the historic
consumptive use analysis.

. Sufficient historical data collection for development and calibration of four additional
groundwater models for the R(jpublican River /High Plains Aquifer North and South Park
areas, and the Upper Crow Creek and Camp Creek Designated Basins will be completed
Additional groundwater data collection will be conducted including: (I) collecting all
power records for wells with >500 gpm capacity, (2) performing well rating tests on 150 of
these wells, (3) estimating pumping from the available powerrecords, (4) installing 3
additional piezometer nests in the alluvium, 15 piezometer nests in the Republican River
Basin, and 8 additional nested bedrock piezometers (and associated pump tests), (5)
collecting existing water level data in 60 wells in the South Platte basin, 300 in the
Republican River Basin, and 20 each in North and South Park, (6) installation of 5
piezometer transects (6 wells each) in the R(jpublican River Basin and 1 in the North Platte
Basin. and (7) if warranted, installation of an additional 8 bedrock piezometers and 24
ailuvial piezometers in the Republican River Basin/High Plains Basin area, 10 alluvial
piezometers in North and South Parks, and three each in the Upper Crow Creek and Camp
Creek designated basins. '

· Field data will be obtained and evaluated in support of the gain/loss investigations on the
South Platte River and tributaries. These data will be used for development and calibration
of the administration and surface water models.

· Data for the next 60-100 largest plans for augmentation will be digitized. These data will be
used for development and calibration o[the administration and surface water models.

. p:\data\sen'spdss\4atacolleclionrptdrnft\finaldraft\cxccutive sununary,doc

ES-4
