<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1) Ifthe purchase of flood insurance is in connection with making, increasing, extending or <br />renewing of a loan, there is no waiting period; and, <br /> <br />2) Ifthe purchase of flood insurance is made during the one-year period following the issuance of <br />a revised flood map for a community, there is a one-day waiting period. <br /> <br />For more information about obtaining federal flood insurance, contact FEMA at (303) 235-4800 or the <br />National Flood Insurance Program at 1-800-427-4661 for the names oflocal agents who handle flood <br />insurance policies or contact your local insurance agent. <br /> <br />Owens Names Two To Wildlife Commission: Gov. Bill Owens has announced two appointments to <br />the Colorado Wildlife Commission: Commission Chairman Rick Enstrom of Lakewood was <br />reappointed to a four-year term, representing sportsmen and sportswomen on the Commission and Las <br />Animas County Commissioner Ken Torres of Trinidad was appointed to replace outgoing <br />Commissioner Marianna Raftopoulos who had previously announced she would not seek <br />reappointment. Torres will represent county commissions. <br /> <br />Enstrom was first appointed to the Commission in 1999. A graduate of Mesa College and a former <br />Mesa County commissioner, he is operator of Enstrom Candies of Denver. He has served as director of <br />the Grand Junction and Golden chapters of Ducks Unlimited and is also trained as an emergency <br />medical technician. <br /> <br />Torres eamed an engineering degree from Metro State College in Denver. He was elected to the Las <br />Animas County Commission in 2000. His family has been in the ranching business in Las Animas <br />County for more than 100 years and Torres continues to operate the family business. He also teaches <br />engineering at Trinidad Junior College and operates a family-run fish hatchery. <br /> <br />April Drought Conference: On April 4 the Colorado Chapter of the A WRA and the Colorado Water <br />Wise Council is hosting a conference entitled "The 2002 Drought: A True Watershed Event?" The <br />conference will be held at the Mt. Vernon Country Club. <br /> <br />The morning will be devoted to exploring a variety of information related to the drought and the <br />afternoon sessions will feature a facilitated workshop with a statewide panel of representatives from <br />various walks of life that are impacted by the drought and growth. <br /> <br />For more information contact Jeff Clark, A WRA Board President at iclarkta2ci.aurora.co.us, or by <br />phone at 303-739-7533. We also have an agenda item <br />devoted to discussing the Foundation's latest activities, including the publication of a new water law <br />handbook. . <br /> <br />Trout Unlimited Report: On Jan. 28 Trout Unlimited released a new report A Dry Legacy 2: Progress and <br />New Threats in a Drought Year at a press conference in Denver.
