Dear Mr. Gildersleeve:

I

In our letter of February 27, 1958, and in earlier
letters we agreed to keep you advised of the results of our de-
finite plan studies of the Pine River Project Extension. Inas-
much as you have been over the project area with our technicians
and have attended meetings where problems of project land and
drainage were discussed, we are not reporting in detail here.

After further study and investigation, it is the con-
clusion of this office that Federal development of the extension
lands cannot be justified at this time. A report of the find-
ings leading to this conclusion is in process of preparation and
copies will be furnished you. Area Engineer Crabtree at Durango
is reporting this conclusion to the Pine River Irrigation District.
