MR. STAPLETON:

MR. JENNINGS:

"Bob, I don' t think some of the people
over here can hear you so perhaps you'd
better stand up."

"All right, Ben. As I was mentioning, we
have enjoyed one of the best construction
seasons we have known in many years and con-
struction activity progressed very well on
all phases of our work.

I

I'll briefly hit the highpoints starting
first with Construction. As far as Glen Can-
yon is concerned this structure is nearing
completion. The highest block at Glen Canyon
is better than Gl5 feet above bedrock which
is less than lOO feet from the completed
height of this structure. At the present
time 4,200,000 yards of concrete are in place
in the structure. The prime contractor on the
dam is more than 80 percent complete. The
powerhouse structure is completed and work is
underway on the installation of the turbines
in the powerplant.

Moving on to Flaming Gorge, the dam proper
was topped out on November l5th. Throughout
the winter work will progress on placing of
concrete in the spillway and doing the neces-
sary construction at the dam to provide a
roadway across the dam.

As reported to you previously, storage
at this structure began on November lst. At
the present time there is over l50 feet of
stored water behind the structure. That is the
height of the outlet works. Also the contrac-
tor has started the placing of the permanent
plug in the diversion structure.

The first hydroelectric power for produc-
tion under the Colorado River storage Project
is scheduled to begin at Flaming Gorge Power-
plant in September of 1963.

I

I'd like to pause right here at this
point and remind you that at the last meeting,
