Basin Fund. So we, in the South Platte
area spec1fically, which includes a larger
population and a very sizeable area, are
missing the boat 100%. This ties in with
this part1cular thing that someone told
the Board, we should help develop these
things that are in progress in the Missouri
Basin so that we can get our share of the
money Uncle Sam is spending.

I don't want to be construed as re-
sisting what Mr. Peterson said. I think
the Western Slope needs it and they ought
to have it, but I want to say just as
positive~y the Eastern Slope needs some
help likewise."

"Dave I didn't mean to by-pass the
Eastern Slope in that proposal. I was
under the impression that inasmuch as the
entire staff is here, that we did have a
sufficient amount of help here to take
care of the situation that you explained.
Now if there isn't, I strongly encourage
there be an additional man of equal capa-
bili ties placed and made available to the
entire Eastern Slope for their problems
the same as the Western Slope."

"Mr. Chairman I agree with this - that
we should have these two men, or three if
it is necessary, but I don't approve of
the idea of saying an Eastern Slope man and
a Western Slope man. We don't want to
have these two fellows pulling at each other.
I think the proposition is now that we
don't want more division - let's have a
couple of men that will work allover the
state."

"Ted, what I have in mind was more a
matter of residence. In other words to
hold down travel expenses and one thing
and another, I don't think both of them
should be living her~ in Denver nor both
of them should be living in Grand Junc-
tion."
