I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. SPARKS:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. BARNARD,JR.:

I

L~01

The area I now have in mind is the
San Juan Basin because that is a critical
area at the present time with reference to
the New Mexico development, that is, the
Navajo Irrigation Project and the San Juan-
Chama Project. We have already done con-
siderable work in the San Juan Basin with
reference to those projects and the avail-
able water supply. We have had Mr. Clifford
Jex who has been making a survey in that area
both for this Board and for the Southwestern
Board. Mr. Jex believes that a comprehensive
survey of that area can be completed to put
in there an analysis of project priorities,
their importance to the area, their importance
to the State of Colorado, that a complete
survey can be made and completed for about
$6,000 within a year's time."

"Would that $6,000 be from our Board or
from the District Board?'

"That would be from our Board - that
would be a report made to our Board. That
report would have to be done in conjunction
with our own engineers. We could not get it
done for that sum unless our own engineers
also work on it."

"I would like to tie my thinking in with
our Investigation Commission. This is one of
their projects as I recall it, reviewing the
Hill report, and have they recommended to us
that this be done or should we wait for a
recommendation from them? I personally have
left this problem in their hands until we
have some kind of a recommendation from them
as to where they want to go."

"I think the Investigation Commission by
action of this Board is restricted in its
initial stages to the Glen Canyon filling
problem and I think it would be very advisable
to request their committee to work on the
thing as they have on the Glen Canyon filling
together with the engineers on the Board and
from the Southwestern District. Because again
the basic concept of the Investigation Com-
mission was to have technicians from areas
