We are very pleased to be out <br />here in the Columbine area. Some of you were <br />with us when the board had a refamiliarization <br />tour of the Chatfield project yesterday. We <br />were certainly impressed by the progress. The <br />delay as we all know, has been a disappointment <br />but something that we couldn't avoid. We are <br />delighted to see the progress at this point. <br />But as you know from the newspapers and the <br />reports that Mr. Sparks in behalf of the staff <br />has made, this is a problem of channelization <br />which came up at least unexpectedly to us. We <br />have been proceeding as the arm of the state in <br />acquiring the necessary property on the banks of <br />the South Platte to carry out the State of <br />Colorado's responsibility in this project. <br /> <br />I might say that what we are really here for <br />is to get your ideas and expressions of opinions, <br />and so forth. I don't anticipate that we will <br />make a decision at this meeting. Depending upon <br />where we stand, we may havet.o have a subsequent <br />meeting of the Board on this very subject. But <br />
