MR. FLEWELLING: Yes, it does.

MR. ROBBINS: Thank you.

MR. KROEGER: Are there any other questions? (NO response.) Does
anyone in the audience wish to question these representatives of
Basalt? ,(No response.)

Thank you very much for your presentation.'

The Town of Hudson, is it ~epresented here today?

MR. WUERTZ: My name is Vie Wuertz, and I am the Mayor of Hudson.
I feel that the Town of Hudson is in serious need of improvements to
their water, system. We' have, two wells'which supply ,the water for the
town. - These are shallow wells, and the quality is very poor. We do
not meet the requirement or recommended minimum standard of the Colo-
rado Department of Health. We don't have enough storage or water
availability._ This has caused us a lot of prOblems and has restricted
growth of the community. We'ncW have a moratorium on water taps. In
case of a ,fire emergency during our peak usage, we just don't have
enough water available. We, at times, have had to call on the resi-
dents to shut off their water that they were using so we could build
our storage back up in case of ~n emergency.

Also, with our moratorium, we have had someone challange this mora-
torium on our water taps, and he decided to'go ahead and build a
house without a water tap. We ended up in court, and we had a large
lawsuit over this. We made an agreement to go ahead and issue him a
water tap if he would drop his lawsuit. The reason we decided to go
ahead with this agreement was that it was very costly to pursue it
any further. Thank you.

MR. JACKSON:
water rights?

Mr. Wuertz, will you be able to get, some additional
The report doesn't speak to that.

MR. WUERTZ: DaleOlhausen was supposed to be here today. I don't
know what happened. But, yes, we are.

MR. KROEGER: Does anyone else from the Board have any questions of
Mr. Wuertz?'

I

MR. SPARKS: What has been your population 'increase in recent years?
I don't know whether you mentioned that or not.

MR. WUERTZ:' No, I didn't mention that. I believe our population I
right now is right around 750. I don't know our percentage, but I
would say that in the 1960's we were right around 500.

MR. SPARKS: I might observe that Hudson is close enough to the
metropolitan area that it has been caught, up into th'e metropolitan
structure. We find a trend nationwide that has been reported by the
Census Bureau that for some period of years following World War II
there was a great in-migration to the urban centers of the country.
The rural people were moving into the population centers. There 'were

-20-
