<br />JBC Recommendations: At a recent hearing on the DNR budget, our Joint Budget Committee staff <br />Analyst recommended all of our Decision Items and they were passed unanimously. These Decisions <br />Items include: <br /> <br />Floodplain Mapping FTE for the Flood Section <br />A one-time increase of $255,000 for Severance Tax to be added to our current appropriation of <br />$585,000 <br />Administrative Assistant III in the Finance Section <br />Increase of $4.81 0 for Interstate Compacts dues <br /> <br />If you are interested in seeing the "figure-setting" document, please go to: <br />www.state.co.us/gOV dir/leg dir/ibc/natfig.lldf (pages 129-141). <br /> <br />CCC Award: Catherine Gonzales has been recognized, along with employees from other state agencies, <br />by the General Assembly in HJR 05-1027 for her work on the Colorado Combined Campaign that raises <br />money from state employees for charities. Congratulations and thanks! <br /> <br />New Finance Staff: Chad Henderson has been hired by the Water Planning and Finance Section to be our <br />new loan contracts administrator. Chad formerly worked for the Colorado Attorney General's Office. <br />Welcome aboard! <br /> <br />Attorney General John Snthers Announces Senior Management Team And Office Reorganization: <br />Attorney General John Suthers has named his senior management team in the Department of Law. <br />"These attorneys are among the brightest legal minds in Colorado," said Suthers. "I am pleased they have <br />agreed to serve. The citizens of Colorado are fortunate to have them managing the legal work of the <br />State." <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Office of the Attorney General includes Attorney General Suthers and the following three <br />individuals: <br /> <br />Chief Deputy Attorney General- Cynthia Honssinger. Honssinger has served as Chief Counsel to <br />Governor Bill Owens, and with the Colorado Department of Public Health as Director of Legal and <br />Regulatory affairs and as Deputy Executive Director. Honssinger began her legal career in the office of <br />the Georgia Attorney General before moving to Colorado in 1997. <br /> <br />Solicitor General- Allison Eid. Eid is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado <br />School of Law and will take a leave of absence until January of2007 to serve as Solicitor General. Eid <br />previously worked for the Denver law firm of Arnold & Porter, and as a law clerk to Justice Clarence <br />Thomas of the United States Supreme Court. Acting Solicitor General John Krause will remain in that <br />position until Professor Bid joins the office at the end of this academic year. <br /> <br />Deputy Attorney General For Legal Policy And Governmental Affairs - Jason Dunn. Dunn joins the <br />office from the private sector, having practiced in public policy and water law for Hale Friesen, LLP, in <br />Denver. Dunn previously served as a law clerk to Justice Nathan Coats ofthe Colorado Supreme Court. <br />Dunn will also serve as Assistant Solicitor for Civil Appeals, and will serve as Communications Director <br />until that position is filled in the coming weeks. <br /> <br />Suthers has also named the following individuals to lead the six sections of the office: <br /> <br />Deputy Attorney General For Criminal Justice - Jeanne Smith. Smith is a career prosecutor and joins the <br />office after serving eight years as the District Attorney for EI Paso and Teller Counties. <br /> <br />Deputy Attorney General For Natural Resources - Casey Sphall. Shpall has been with the Attorney <br />General's Natural Resource section since 1991, serving as a First Assistant Attorney General for the <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />32 <br />
