.

.

.

Terms of Loan: $920,000 @4.25% for 30-years Project Type: Flood Mitigation

Dry Creek is located north of Fort Collins. with a majority of its 75 square miles of drainage basin area
located within Larimer County. The uppermost portion of the basin consists of rangeland and irrigated pastures.
The lower portion of the basin within the city limits of Fort Collins consists of commercial. industrial, and
residential development. Over the years the lower 2/3 of the Dry Creek floodplain corridor has almost been
completely eliminated due to development. The 100-year runoff for Dry Creek is 5.022 cfs. The intent of the
project is to control floodwaters in the upper basin area by means of detention facilities to reduce the peak
discharge from 5022 cfs to 500 cfs above the Weld Canal. utilize a specific reach of the Weld Canal to transport
the 500 cfs. and construct approximately 1.5 miles of new open channel from the Weld Canal to a designated
point along Dry Creek, located downstream of existing development. The proposed improvements would remove
over 800 structures out of the Dry Creek regulatory 100-year floodplain. The project is currently in the
feasibility/preliminary design phase. Tentatively construction is scheduled for summer of 2001.
