At this time, we would like to
have the Corps explain what has happened since
the last appearance before this board."

"John will make the presentation, Larry."

"If anyone hasn't gotten a copy of this
information on Bijou Creek, I wish you would go
back and get it because I'll be working from
this in describing some of the details."

"Can everyone back in that part of the
room hear the presentation all right?"

"Essentially, Larry gave a little bit of
the history of the Bijou project.

Following the 1965 flood, the Omaha
District Corps of Engineers made the require-
ments for the basins to determine which were
the better reservoir sites in the basin. Of
this reconnaissance, we selected nine potential
sites located at various locations. They are
shown on plate I of this information packet.
The sites that were originally looked at at
that time. are essentially the diamond-shaped
affairs on the map. Of the original nine sites,
we went into the detailed analysis of the
benefits and costs.' Of' tho'nine sites only
three appeared to have a reasonable chance of
economic justification under the then current
3 1/4 percent interest rate for water resources
development. The three sites that we looked
at at that time were the West Bijou Creek, site
A shown on the map upstream from Byers! the
Muddy Creek site, shown downstream from highway
36, and the East Bijou Creek site which is the

-3-
