I

I

MR. VANDEMOER:

MR. CORNELIUS:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. KROEGER:

City Council is unanimously in support of this
project and urges that everything possible be
done to expedite its authorization and con-
struction. ~he ohly doubts were cast by the
landowners in the area. Their principal prob-
lem, as John has stated, is that they are in
a dilemma no~ concerning the sale of their
lands. They are trying to be sure that they
receive an adequate price. There is no real
opposition to this project. It would create
a tremendous benefit to the City of Aurora.

The recreation development is probably
the most extensive that I have seen in connec-
tion with any Corps' project in Colorado.
This involves a recreation area which would
extend from the darns on Sand and Toll Gate
Creeks up to the Cherry Creek reservoir. There
would be an interconnected recreation develop-
ment. It would preserve a great amount of
open space which is now being rapidly occupied
by subdivisions. It includes the construction
of horse trails, bicycle trails, to inter-
connect the three projects and provide a very
desirable type of both open space and developed
recreation facilities in the Metro area. That
being the case, that there is no opposition to
it, and the project is strongly supported by
the City of Aurora and the Urban Drainage and
Flood Control District, I recommend that this
board go on record as approving its authoriza-
tion and construction."

"I so move.1I

"I second it."

"It's been regularly moved and seconded.
Any further discussion? All those in favor'
will signify ~y saying. 'aye' - opposed, 'no.'
It is unanimously carried."

"Ben, I guess I should have brQught this up
a little quiclter than when we voted. What did

~33-
