VELEHRADSKY:

the West Bijou dam until we had an indication
that the Narrows was going in.

In other words. we would have to know that I. -.-
it was going to be operational before these
benefits would be obtained. If we recommend
West Bijou with a deferral of construction there
would be an opportunity during this period for
the SCS to go look at these dams and there
wouldn't really be any lag caused by their
studies. "

"And then if you channel this.above the
Narrows dam. one big problem is sedimentation.
In their surveys they could determine how much
they could abate the sedimentation by treatment
of the upstream tributaries."

"Right. On the basis of the public meetings
there was no support for channelization into
the Narrows. There was opposition. On that
basis. I feel that the position the district
engineer would have to be that he couldn't
recommend channelization unless there was some
support for it. Right now at this point. there
isn't support.

The only thing we can recommend on the
basis of the public meeting and our studies is
West Bijou Creek. The channelization could
come in later or as a part of the Narrows."

"Herb Vandemoer. do you have any comments
or thoughts?"

"I would like to ask a question as to
your sedimentation figure on the Narrows. Are
you taking that figure with West Bijou in. or
is that just running the Bijou directly into
the Narrows?"

1

"That's without West Bijou. There would
be a reduction based on the drainage area."

-10-
