LEGAL NOTICE

Extreme Precipitation Investigation Project

The Colorado Division of Water Resources in cooperation with the Colorado Water
Conservation Board is soliciting Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for professional
services to perform a scientific project. Much of the research is provided in a publication
entitled "Colorado Extreme Storm Precipitation Data Study" by Colorado State
University - Climatology Report #97-1 dated May 1997. The proposed project is
entitled "Extreme Precipitation Investigation Project for the State of Colorado". The
major project objectives are to: I) develop a ST ATE MODEL which can predict extreme
precipitation amounts for select basins above 5,000 feet MSL., 2) present aerial
distribution patterns for extreme precipitation events, 3) compare these data to existing
Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) data, and 4) develop a procedure to use these
new extreme precipitation values in the State's Dam Safety and Floodplain Management
Programs. A detailed "Scope of Work" to be used for the preparation of the SOQ is
available upon request. Interested parties should contact Alan Pearson at the Colorado
Division of Water Resources, Room 818,1313 Sherman St., Denver, Colorado, 80203
(303 - 866-3581) or Larry Lang at the Colorado Water Conservation Board, Room 721,
1313 Sherman St. Denver, Colorado, 80203.
