Recommendations for improvement of a) river channel conveyance, and b) sediment _ <br />transport, as well as workable solutions to groundwater problems and riparian plantings . <br />and/or removal, where applicable. <br />5. Recommendations for channel maintenance activities consistent with current water resource <br />management and environmental policies. <br /> <br />On January 21,1999, CWCB staff and Albuquerque Corps staffwill conduct a final public <br />meeting in Lamar, Colorado at the invitation of the Lower Arkansas River Steering Committee. <br />The purpose of the meeting is I) to present final recommendations on reducing flood damage <br />due to operational releases from John Martin Dam, and 2) to discuss opportunities for <br />environmental restoration to areas that have been impacted by John Martin Dam operations. <br />Items I and 2 above, are the result of the Lower Reach study effort, previously mentioned in this <br />memorandum.
