The notice infonned lessees that it is aware oil prices are
at historically low level and that gas prices are also depressed. As a result the SLB decided on Feb. 23 to
allow oil and gas companies that want to retain their leases past the current expiration date may do so for
one-year without paying the $10 per acre rental. By taking this action the SLB hopes to encourage
companies to retain their leases without the hardship that might be suffered if the rental payment were
required.

This action was taken as the result of a hearing the COGCC held on Jan 15 at which the COGCC
discussed several initiatives it believes may help operators cope with historically low oil and declining
gas prices. The COGCC forwarded these proposals to the DNR Executive Director. The SLB may
consider other initiatives in the near future.

Division of Wildlife (DOW)

NEW WILDLIFE COMMISSIONERS APPOINTED: Governor Bill Owens has appointed
Marianna M.
