I regret that through an oversight, we
have neglected to adopt an appropriate resolu-
tion concerning the death of a former long-
time consultant of this Board, Royce Tipton.
I will therefore ask at this time that our
attorney prepare an appropriate resolution for
introduction at the next meeting of this Board.

At the last meeting the Board staff was
directed to prepare a memorandum concerning
the request of the Central Colorado Water Con-
servancy District pertaining to its project to
import water from the Colorado River. We have
not had sufficient time to prepare a thorough
memorandum on that request but it will be ready
in time for the next Board meeting and will be
circulated to the Board members prior to the
meeting.

It has been suggested that we have our next
meeting in western Colorado. Normally we do,
as the Board knows, hold at least one meeting a
year in that area. Since the middle of the
summer is rather a bad time to have meetings
because of business on the part of the cattlemen
and farmers and vacations on the part of other
people, it is probable that our next meeting
will be scheduled late in August. It has been
suggested that we have that meeting in Lake
City, a place where the Water Board has never
yet met and a place 'where 'many people. in Colorado
have never yet been. It is a delightful spot
notwithstanding the story about Alfred Packer.
May we have some discussion on that? This is
in Craig Goodwin's neighborhood. How far is
that from Gunnison, Craig? Sixty miles?"

MR. GOODWIN:

"I couldn't tell you in miles but it is a
little over an hour's drive. I think you would
enjoy it, I really do."

MR. SPARKS:

"There is commercial air transportation into
Gunnison and from there motor transportation can
be arranged into Lake City."

MR. ECKLES:

"The road is paved all the way now."
