6U6~

stream. This isn't just engineers because in
many respects I think the engineers approach
these problems more realistically than others
in other components that have an interest.

Basically what we think is essential is I
more of an interdisciplinary approach as has
been cited previously. Though' we are similarly
very interested in the runoff, the effect of .
seepage forces, the inflow of water on chaf1llel
stability, and so forth, we serve lots of
different types of organizations and groups.
We presently are serving as consultants on
mission oriented work for the Bureau of Public
aoads, for the Corps of Engineers, for several
of the consultant firms such as Harza Engineer-
ing of Chicago, and others. We are involved in
this type of activity with the united Nations,
with some of the other agencies in the State of
Colorado, such as Engineering Consultants Inter-
national, Tipton and Kalmbach and others. As
you get into our research facilities, looking
at what's going on hydraulically, you will see
mostly the applied type of activity that we are
involved in. We have work presently under way
for Tibbetts, Abbett, Mccarthy and stratton out
of New York relating to the development of the
water supplies in the Indus Basin. We are work-
ing and have been for some time with Freese,
Nichols and Endress and other groups out of
Texas tied in with the state water plan there.
We are working with the Alaskan Highway Depart-
ment on some of their problems of river develop-
ment, hydraulic structures and power development.
We are working with Kalium Chemical and other
groups out of Canada. So it goes.

Along these lines of hydraulics, a couple
of years ago we initiated the International I
Water Resources School. This is really to
serve practicing engineers who do not wish to
come back to obtain Masters and Ph.D.s, who
want a specific orientation to upgrade their
knowledge to enable them to go back to their
groups and agencies and do a better job. This
is our first year with graduates. We are getting
