I

I

their efforts when they made the trip to Washington last year to plead
our case along with other projects. We also would like to acknowledge
the help given our district by Mr. R. C. Fischer and members of the
Board of the Colorado River Water Conservation District.

Last but not least, we would like to express our appreciation to our
Congressional Delegation for all the work that they have done in our
behalf and we beg them to uphold the request for funds made by the
President in his FY 1976 budget, and for their help in future years to
bring the project to a successful conclusion; also, that they work
hand in hand with the Colorado Water Conservation Board toward an
orderly funding program that will bring all authorized projects in the
State under construction and to an early completion. We certainly
want to include Congressman Aspinall and his help over the years.

Thank you.

Mr. Stapleton: Are there any questions of Mr. Shaw in regard to the
Fruitland Mesa Project?

Mr. Sherman: I do have one, Mr. Shaw. You have already been able to
work out a repayment contract.

Mr. Shaw: Yes, that has been signed since 1969.

Mr. Sherman: Thank you.

Mr. Stapleton: Thank you very much, we appreciate your coming.

I think we might have a ten-minute recess at this time, still with the
idea to reconvene and go straight through the agenda, and not have any
lunch break. We will play it by ear.

0Jhereupon, at 11:00 a.m. a ten-minute recess was taken.)

Mr. Stapleton: I would like to introduce Dave Crandall. Dave, will
you stand up. Dave is familiar with a great majority of the projects,
and we have asked him to come. He will be able to answer any questions
any member of the Board or audience will have. Dave, I appreciate you
taking the time to come.

The next project is the Fryingpan-Arkansas.

Mr. Adkins: I'm Ralph Adkins, a member of the board of directors of
the Southeastern Water Conservancy District. We have no statement as
such. I am pleased to be here as a part of the Colorado group. We
are pleased with the budget proposal for the entire state, and particu-
larly with the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. If we can get these through
appropriations and get the money for continued construction at this
rate 'it will speed up the time at which we can get out of the way and
get on with some of the other projects that Larry was talking about
earlier, and get them moving. Thank you.

-27-
