Attcrney General Gail L. <br />Ireland, Frank C. l1err)e11, Seoretary-Engineer or the Colorado River Water <br />Conservation Distriot, Glenn G. Saunders, Assistant City Attorney of the City <br />and County of Denver and Direotor Stone reported conoerning a meeting held at <br />Santa Fe, New Mexico, July 7-8, 1944, when six of the directly affected states~ <br />namely, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexioo, Texas, Utah and Wyoming formed a Six S'tates <br />Committee to aotively support ratification by the United States; Senate of this; <br />treaty. It was explained that the Six States; Committee i$ made up of- one <br />representative from each of the six states mentioned, wi~h Clifford H. Stone as <br />ohairman; that Frank C. Merriell was appointed as Colorado's representative on <br />this committee; and that Glenn G. Saunder~ had been seleoted as ohairman of a <br />committee to prepare an over-all brief on the subjeot of treaty ratifioetion. <br /> <br />Direotor S'torre oalled to the attention of the Board the oooperative <br />oontraots heretofore entered into by the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the <br />United States Geological Survey for the installation and maintenanoe of stream <br />gaging stations necessary for projeot investigation in the State of Colorado. He <br />stated thet the oontraot whioh would expire June 30, 1944 provided that the ,State <br />expend $6,000 as its share and that the B~ea~ o~ Reolamation had furnished <br />materials and servioes' amounting' to substantiaily the same amount. He then <br />reoornmended that the Board! approve the expendi toure 'of $6,000 as its share or cost <br />under a similar oontraot for the fisoal year oommencing_ July 1, 1944 and expiring <br />June ~o, 1945. Mr. A. C.' Stiefel of the Colorado water Coneervation Board stafr <br />exp1ainedi the details; of this; cooperative work and displilyedi dooumen'ts; indicating <br />the looation of the gaging stations, the names; of those 'to be discontinued, the <br />namew of those which would be continued, and the new s'tations; to be installed. <br /> <br />After discussion it WIlS moved! by Mr.. Dille and seconded <br />by Mis~ Pointev that the program of cooperative stream <br />gaging for the purpose of supporting project investigations <br />in the State or Colorado, between the S'tate of Colorado, <br />the United State~ Geological Survey'andthe Bureau of <br />Reolernation be-oontinu~ for the next risoa1 year and tha't <br />the Directo~be authorized to sign suoh paper~ and contracts <br />as were neoessary to carry out this program;. and) that the <br />sum of $6,000 of the fundlllof the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board be authorized for expenditure, for thi~ purpose. <br /> <br /> <br />The motion WaS unanimously carried; and deolarecll passed. <br /> <br />Mr. J.
