Flaming Gorge is moving toward the windup
this year. We still expect it will be topped
out about the 1st of November. By September
1st we had about 890,000 yards out of the
1,000,000 total in the structure. I was there
last week and it's always gratifying, maybe
give a sigh of relief, to see those blocks
clear up to the top to where the highline
bucket was just barely clearing the top form.
On the two highest blocks they only had two
pours left to finish out roadway level.

Good progress has been made on Blue Mesa
Dam this summer. The diversion tunnel was
holed through week before last and the con-
tractor is getting squared away now to make
good progress the rest of this working season.
The tunnel lining will go on this winter.

The State Highway contractors are also
making good progress on the highway relocation.
They have two sections of the highway under
construction now and the third will be started
this coming spring. There was a little set-
back here a week or two ago on the Lake Fork
bridge when the contractor dropped one of
those large beams into the Lake Fork River, a
few hundred feet below. The report I got yes-
terday was that that beam can be repaired and
it will not delay the work on that bridge for
which I am gratified. We were worried about
both those bridges; whether they would get
done in time to permit the diversion of the
river.

You all know that Navajo Dam was topped
out in August and we're going to have the dedi-
cation ceremony tomorrow. I hope that all the
people that are here for this meeting will be
able to make that dedication ceremony. The
Secretary will be the principle speaker. It,
of course, is' the first of our storage Units
to be completed.
