Batson, Regional Director of Region 7, Bureau of Recla- <br />mation, was than.called upon .to summarize the status, programs, and <br />pIa ns of t.l,e Bureau of Reclama tion in hi. s region in Colorado. He ex- <br />plained the statu s of the Colorado-Big Thompson proj ect and further <br />reviewed the studies in the South Platte Basin which had been undertaken <br />in cooperation ".;. th the U. S. Geologic al Survey after consu l.tation and <br />approval by the staff of the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Mr. <br />Batson al so reviewed the status of the proposed Blue-South Platte and <br />Gunnison-Arkansas transmountain diversion projects. <br /> <br />E. O. Larson, Regional Director <for Region 4, Bureau of Reclamation, <br />".;. th offices at Sal t Lake City, Utah, reported on projects .in Region 4 <br />in.that part of his region lying in western Colorado. This included <br />projects under construction, tlnse authorized for construction, and <br />proj act investi getions now under way. His statement covered the invest- <br />igation which had been undertaken in the Uncompahgre Project for the <br />purp ose of re-negoti .ting a repayment con trect betv;een the Government <br />and the water users. His explanation covered a sunnnary of proposed <br />activities up to the end of the fiscal year July 1. 1948. <br /> <br />A full transcript of the statement B made by Nr. Batson and <br />Mr. Lar son appear s in the stenog rap hic rep ort of the me eti ng on 1'11 e <br />in the office of the Board. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Director called attention to the preliminary, confidential <br />report of Jean S. Breitenstein, Attorney for the Board, entitled <br />"Memoran:1um on the Colorado River," copie s of which were made available <br />at the meetiI'.g for each member of the Board. It was explained by the <br />Director thet each lll3mber of the Board should carefully review this <br />memor endum and submit to the Board of fic e commen ts and cri tic isms for <br />a final revision of the report. When the report is revised in accord- <br />ance with Board member comments and suggestions, it would be placed in <br />final form for distri tution in Colorado in order that interested citizens <br />and groups 'II'Ould become fully informed concerning important (;olorado River <br />problems and questions which must receive the attention of the Board from <br />time to time. <br /> <br />The meeting recessed at 12 :15 P.M. to reconvene at 1:30 P.M. <br />
