I

I

....-;0;-..,....

by saying 'aye'; opposed - the minutes of
January 12, 1967, are approved.

For the second agenda item, Mr. Droskin
will report for Region 7. Mr. DrosJdn."

MR. DROSKIN:

"Mr. Chairman, members of the Board,
ladies and gentlemen, we have submitted a
statement for the record. I will also pro-
vide, with your permission, a little more
current information on our construction
progress.

On the Upper Republican Division, Missouri
River Basin project, a preliminary analysis
was made of the possible water supply avail-
able on the Arickaree River in colorado.

There is one element of interest, we
think, on the St. Francis unit, Missouri
River Basin project, which is some evidence
of interest around our Bonny Reservoir area.
The people in the area prevailed on their
county Agent to get in touch with our project
office in McCook and set up several meetings
in the vicinity of Armel, Colorado, to dis-
cuss the potential of using Bonny Reservoir
water on lands in the vicinity of Armel,
colorado. There has been significant interest
developed there and just the other day we
received a petition with about fifty or sixty
names which, I understand, comprises essential-
ly all of the landowners in that area that
would be considered. They have gotten to-
gether a steering committee and are trying
now to prevail on the Bureau to make a feasi-
bility study of the potential for irrigating
that area. As you know, the dam was completed
in about 1951 with the potential of irrigat-
ing about 6,000 to 7,000 acres by pump lift,
but the interest there in the irrigation
phase has never materialized. So to date,
that water has just been setting there al-
though it has been receiving considerable use
from recreationists, both in fishing, boating
and the like.
