<br />J~~J <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Creek in the Yampa River drainage, and canals <br />consisting of the 21-mile Milk Creek Canal, <br />38-mile Yellow Jacket Canal, and 40-mile <br />Josephine Basin Canal. Some minor laterals, <br />drains, and channel stabiliZation will be re- <br />quired. Project water would be delivered for <br />the irrigation of 22,000 acres of full ser- <br />vice and 6,500 acres of supplemental service <br />lands and for 50,000 acre-feet annually for <br />municipal and industrial use in connection <br />with anticipated oil shale developments in <br />the piceance basin. Recreation and fish and <br />wildlife are also project purposes. We <br />anticipate the proposed feasibility report <br />scheduled for completion at the end of this <br />fiscal year will be delayed a few months. <br /> <br />preparations are being made to initiate <br />land classification and drainage investiga- <br />tions on the Basalt Project area in the spring. <br />This work will be accomplished with funds <br />contributed by the Basalt Water Conservancy <br />District. <br /> <br />I have nothing new to report on the five <br />projects that are presently up for authoriza- <br />tion, the Animas-La Plata, Dolores, Dallas <br />Creek, San Miguel, and West Divide projects. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A field draft of the Fruitland Mesa <br />project, which is an authorized project, <br />definite plan report is under review in this <br />office. Revised feasibility estimates for <br />Soap Park Dam and Reservoir have been received <br />from the Chief Engineer and are being incor- <br />porated into the report. Financial and <br />economic analysis studies are in progress. <br />Draft reports have been received from the <br />Forest Service and the Bureau of Sport Fish- <br />eries and Wildlife. Their evaluations of <br />costs and benefits are being used in economic <br />and financial evaluations of the project. <br />Supplements to the Operation, Maintenance, and <br />Replacement; Project Lands, and Drainage Appen- <br />dices are essentially completed. ~le anticipate <br />
