..-

Rifle on the first and second? ~hen I think we ought to keep in the
back of our minds September l3 in Durango. I have talked to Larry and
I don't think we need to schedule that at this time. Sam might have
some other thoughts on it, to see whether we have any business really
to conduct at that time.

.-

!-Jr. Havnes: Whatever the pleasure of the board is, but I am sure that
if Mr. Kroeger hears that he is going to want to know what I had to
say about it. I want to say that if it is the pleasure of the.board
I am sure that Freddy is looking forward to having the board back in
Durango after a long absence. I would be delighted to take care of
any business September 13.

Mr. Stapleton: In the absence of the vice-chairman, let's tentatively
keep the 13th of September on the agenda for a board meeting in Durango.

Under other business, I have going to suggest to the director and the
director of natural resources that they initiate some inquiry about
various political problems. I don't believe that water problems should
be a subject of partisan politics. I don't think we have ever had any
partisan politics in this board. I am distressed by the fact that it
may become a part of politics and I would like to have it as low key
as we can, some understanding about this so that we are all clearly in
gear.

Whether from the east slope or west slope, we all know the potential
danger of getting these matters into a political frame. I don't need
to elaborate any more on that. I don't think it will be necessary,
but I would like to have both of the gentlemen initiate some discussions
and maybe report to us informally as to what those are and what we may
expect in the future.

Now, ~trs. Vandemoer, would you mind drawing names out of the box (a
woman is the only honest person that can do this job) for the boat
captains and boat teams. We will adjourn the meeting, but the suspense
is still here. So let's see what happens. Come on up.

.-

~tr. Sparks: I might say to the husbands that if you don't get your
wife in your boat, don't worry about it. On the other hand, don't
rejoice either because you will get her back at the end of the trip:

-
'J

(laughter)

~tr. Stapleton: It is going to be a better boat trip than that:

(more laughter)

-43-
