<br />reviewing the results of our geologic explora- <br />tions. We hope to be able to inform you in the <br />not too distant future of the results of this <br />board's review. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Director of your Board and members of <br />the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy Dis- <br />trict assisted us in the selection of this board <br />of geologists. We were all convinced that we <br />have selected the most outstanding people avail- <br />able. <br /> <br />Surveys are continuing on the county road <br />relocation at Ruedi Pam and Reservoir. The access <br />road to the west portal of the divide tunnel has <br />been cleared and drilling operations have begun. <br /> <br />Work is under way by Bureau forces on a <br />survey and drilling access road up Chapman Creek <br />and the South Fork of the Fryingpan River. Align- <br />ment will be along the permanent access road into <br />this area. <br /> <br />A field office has been established at <br />Buena vista, Colorado. Surveys have been initiat- <br />ed for horizontal and vertical control for the <br />divide tunnel. One bid was received for a con- <br />tract for drilling at Sugar Loaf Reservoir and <br />it looks as if we might have some difficulty in <br />qualifying the bidder because of his inability <br />to make bond. But if necessary we'll readvertise <br />for this drilling work. <br /> <br />The name of Sugar Loaf Reservoir has been <br />changed to that by w~ich it is locally known: <br />Turquoise Lake. The dam forming the lake will <br />be known as the Sugar Loaf Dam. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A review was made of the proposed recrea- <br />tional developments at Ruedi, Turquoise Lake, and <br />Twin Lakes Reservoirs by the Bureau, Forest Ser- <br />vice, Park Service, and supervisors of the San <br />Isabel and White Forests. <br /> <br />Stream gaging stations have been installed <br />on the Fryingpan River and Tributaries by the <br />Geological Survey. <br />
