"I'd like to ask Mr. Dugan, this permanent
pool in Ruedi for fish purposes, how much water
will be available for releases from the Ruedi
Reservoir for water users' use after this perma-
nent pool has been provided for?"

"Do you know that, Jim?"

"Mr. Knights."

"Pete, it would be approximately the full
100,000. The permanent pool they are talking
about here, I don't know exactly what the acre
footage in that pool is but with a 200 aore sur-
face it can't be very much and I think 100 acre-
feet. So practically the entire amount of your
storage capacity would be available for release
to the river."

"Well, Jim, what I am getting at, the amount
may be small but we are getting down to a point
where we ere talking about small quantities -
small quantities are important - the purpose of
the Ruedi Reservoir was to provide water for
water uses on the western slope of Colorado as a
part of the project. Now I don't want to get
western Colorado into a position of providing all
of the water for recreation when recreation water
is used by people allover the state and all of
the states. I think if you are going to provide
additional pool or water storage for recreational
purposes your reservoir should be enlarged to the
point where that is above and beyond what was
originally contemplated for releases for water
users on the western slope."
