economic studies cannot proceed beyond the accumu-
lation of data without being pointed specifically
toward either the Narrows or Weld County sites.

As you know, our Cache la poudre Unit recon-
naissance report has been completed and released.
Feasibility studies for Stage I of the develop-
ment have been approved. This consists of the
Idylwilde Reservoir on the Cache la poudre River
45 miles west of Fort Collins. Stage II, com-
prising the remainder of the unit, will be delayed
pending development of a market for pe~<ing power.
We met yesterday with the Steering Committee and
discussed the progress of our activities there.

On the Trinidad Project the Trinidad feasi-
bility studies are under way. We have determined
that the benefit cost ratio is 1.1 to 1. Our
report on the economic feasibility of the irri-
gation function of the project is under prepara-
tion.

The operating principles for the project have
been prepared and are being reviewed by the Arkan-
sas River Valley Ditch Association, the Arkansas
River Compact Commission, and the Purgatoire
River Water Conservancy District.

Our reconnaissance studies of the Green
Mountain Afterbay have been essentially completed
and the report completion will await further analy-
sis of future power demands and future Bureau of
Reclamation power contracting activities.

I think you would be interested to learn
that notice to proceed with construction on the
Hayden-Archer 230 kv transmission line has been
forwarded to the contractor. The contractor has
already planned his construction program and will
begin construction this fall.
