WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood
Hazard Area Delineation, Sloans Lake Basin," dated October, 1977,
has been prepared by the URS Company at the request of the Urban
Drainage and Flood Control District, the city and County of Denver,
the city of Edgewater, the city of Lakewood, and the city of Wheat
Ridge, ColoradO; and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or
basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, the Urban Drainage and FloOd Control District
has requested the Colorado Water Conservatiqn Board to designate and
approve the floodplain areas as set forth ih the aforesaid report;
and ,

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (1), 'colorado Revised Statutes
1973, requires the ColoradO Water Conservation Board to assist in
the prevention of floods and flood damages'therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris-
dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any
storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation
and approval by the Colorado Water conservation Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1) (c), Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, directs the ColoradO Water conservation Board to
designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins
and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of
bcal jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report
and does hereby recommend to the ColoradO Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas
inundated by a lOO-year flood (intermediate regional flood) as
described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in said
report;
