<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />to an equitable portion of any waters originating within its <br />boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the waters originating within the State of Colorado are <br />an invaluable and precious resource to the State and its citizens; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board in regular session assembled in Denver, Colorado this 19th day <br />of January, 1978, that it does hereby urge the State of Colorado, <br />through its Governor and Attorney General, to institute an original <br />action in the Supreme Court of the United States against the State of <br />New Mexico pursuant to Section 2, Article III, of the United States <br />Constitution in order to assert and define the rights of the State of <br />Colorado and its citizens to the use of waters originating within the <br />State of Colorado in the Vermejo River and its tributaries; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of this Board is hereby <br />directed to transmit certified copies of this resolution to the <br />Governor and Attorney General of the State of Colorado, and to the <br />President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of the Colorado <br />General Assembly." <br /> <br />The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by Mr. Sparks. The <br />motion to adopt the resolution as above set forth was then approved by <br />a unanimous vote of the board members present.
