I

I

MR. COZIER: I'll pass that along. Well, if that is satisfactory with
the board, in knowing that you have already passed the last one, I
think what I would request on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners
is for you to pass these preliminary ones. Like I say, there has been
no meeting officially or unofficially right now.

MR. SPARKS: Well, we don't act on these, as you understand, at this
meeting.

MR. COZIER: Right. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

MR. KROEGER: Thank you. Does anyone else wish to comment in regard. to
Grand County appropriations? Do we need to take any special action at
this time in regard to those? They will be meeting with you, Duane,
and members of the Department of Wildlife, and then you will be back
with your final recommendations next time.

MR. HELTON: Yes, sir.

MR. KROEGER: The last page involves the Piedra River in Hinsdale and
Archuleta Counties which is in my area. Does anyone have any comments
with regard to that?

I have one request I would like to make and that is that you bring this
down to the Highway 160 but don't go on into the Navajo Reservoir.
You have a good-sized stream and I wonder why you stop at that par-
ticular point.

MR. HELTON: Well, the reason is that I think the Division of Wildlife
was a little bit reluctant to go on the Indian Reservation. But in
view of your comment, I will get back with them and I think that
probably we -can take care of that l:'ecommendation-.

MR. KROEGER: I am kind of like Clarence about that. I didn't know -
that they were reluctant to go anyplace. (Laughter) It seems to me
that if it is a good river with a good flow, this is the kind of a
place where a minimum flow makes ~ense. So let's have them dig on
into the rest of it.

MR. HELTON: Okay.

MR. SPARKS: We can do that without going onto the Indian Reservation.

MR. KROEGER: I don't think you can get to the lake without getting to
the reservation.

MR. SPARKS: But we can make a minimum stream flow recommendation

-37-
