<br />183 <br /> <br />Afternoon Session <br />June 15, 1950 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order, and the session resumed at 1:30 o'clock <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Announcement was made of a program dedicating the Federal Center near <br />Denver, on July 17-20, and that L~ connection therewith a meeting of the Missouri <br />Basin Inter-Agency Committee had been arranged. It was anl"lOunced that Commissioner <br />Straus would attend the Denver dedication, and then fulfill speaking engagements in <br />the State at Roc~ Ford on July 21 and at Montrose on July 22. <br /> <br />The Jirector reported that South Platte Flood Control Project had been <br />authorized, but no construction appropriations yet made. He said that Army En- <br />gineers and the Bureau now recommended a restudy of the Chatfield Dam Project, to <br />consider conservation storage facilities as well as flood control. <br /> <br />Another authorization recently made by the Congress was for the Pueblo <br />f;Lood control project, to permit additions to the present flood control system, at <br />an estimated cost of $209,000. <br /> <br />The Director announced that the Water Board staff was engaged in preparL"lg <br />a comprehensive report on the State's water program, to be published in cooperation <br />with the Colorado Development Council'. He said the report would be an authentic <br />digest of water problems and programs, and a very valuable compilation for the in- <br />formation of the citizens of the State. <br /> <br />Explaining that under present plans it was anticipated the cost of print- <br />ing will be borne by the Council, the Director said the Bureau of Reclamation was <br />furnishing some maps, but that other maps and charts were being prepared by the <br />staff of the Colorado \'fater Conservation Board, and the reproduction of these maps <br />should be at Board expense. <br /> <br />It was moved by John Beaty, and seconded by George <br />Pughe that the Board approve such expense as may be neces- <br />sary in the preparation of the maps and charts provided by <br />the Board's staff for the report. <br /> <br />On vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Director reported that the books and printed materlals of the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board office had been indexed and cataloged, and placed in <br />library shelving. He said the materials, accumulated over 13 years, provided what <br />was probably one of the best collections of water information anywhere in the West. <br />He said that a professional librarian had reorganized, classified, and cataloged <br />the library, at a cost of about $970. <br /> <br />It was reported that Official Record of the Upper eolorado River Hasin Com- <br />pact Conunission had been prepared in the office of the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board, and that sets of the Record were available to all Board members. <br /> <br />Jointly reporting on their efforts to draw up a resolution covering the <br />Board's position in relation to projects contemplated for construction in National <br />parks and monuments, Judge Dan H. Hughes moved the adoption, and Byron Rogers made <br />the second, of the following resolution: <br />
