The Director <1'ecommendedthat a re,solutionbe, adopted by the Board, ex-
pressi~ appreciation for the services of the two members retiI'li;ng; from the
Board-Mr. Silmon Smith of Grand.Junction and Mr. L. Ward Bannister of Denver.

The Director reported that since the last meeting, the Civil Service
eornrnission had approved the appointment of R. M. Gildersleeve, as Chief Engi-
neer of the Water Board. Mr. Gildersleeve was introduced to the Board.

Mr. Cross moved that the Director's suggestions be
approved in respect ,to the next meeting of the Board; that
one day be devoted to a Board tour of the (;olorado-Big
Thompson Project, and that the agenda of the business'
meeting include an overall analysis by the Board of all
questions and problems in development of the Colorado River.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Pughe, and on vote was
declared carried unanimously.

The Director announced that, unless objection were made, he would use
his statement made at the Denver meeting of the President I s Temporary Water
Resources eomrnission, as the basis for a draft of comments to be approved by
the Ibard, as the official comments of the State to that Commission.

Mr. Beaty moved that the Director be authorized to
prepare a resolution of appreciation of the services of the
two members of the Board who have just completed their terms
of appointment on the Board.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Pughe, and on vote was
declared carried 'unanimously. The Vice Chairman instructed
the Director to prepare the resolution as outlined in the motion.

The resolutiCXJs of appreciation, as prepared by the Director, are as
follows :

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Silmon Smith of Grand Junction, .Colorado served as a
member of the Colorado Water Conservation Ibard from August 16, 1939
to June.15, 1950, when his successor qualified as a member of the
Board from Western Colorado; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Smith possesses a knowledge of Colorado's water
resources and problems incident to their protection, development
and utilization, which was of outstanding assistance in carrying
out the functions of the Board, and his services for the State
were rendered in a fair and impartial manner for the best interests
of Colorado;

N(J{, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conserva-
tion Board on thEis 15th day of June 1950, that appreciation and
commendation for Silmon Smith's contribution, through his services
on the Board, to the protection, development and utilization of the
State's water resources and the adjustment of many problems in
connection therewith, be hereby expressed and made a part of the
records of the Board. .
