Given the extremely dry conditions this year maintaining 500 <br />cfs through the critical habitat will be difficult, <br /> <br />Navajo-Gallup Project Update: The Upper Colorado River Commission met in Denver, Colorado to <br />discuss this project and in particular the issue of using Upper Colorado River Basin water in the Lower <br />Colorado River Basin, The Commission has been working on a draft resolution to address this issue which <br />we hope will be ready to discuss with you at the meeting, The Commission will be meeting in Silverthome, <br />Colorado on June 4, 2002 to further discuss this matter. <br /> <br />Mancos Project Contracts: Reclamation has issued a "Finding of No Significant Impact" for three <br />proposed carriage contracts involving the use of Mancos Project facilities to carry no project water. The <br />contracts will allow the historic usage of non-project water on previously irrigated lands, CWCB staff <br />submitted comments in support of the carriage contracts, <br /> <br />Red Mesa Reservoir Enlargement Update: The USFWS issued a draft Biological Opinion for the <br />proposed enlargement on April 1, 2002 and requested comments on the draft by April 30, 2002, Staff has <br />been working with project sponsors on comments, <br /> <br />Yampa River Basin Issues <br /> <br />Little Snake River Compact Update: Wyoming filed its response and motion to dismiss on April 19, 2002, <br />A stay in discovery has also been requested until after the motion to dismiss has been heard, On April 8, <br />2002 Colorado sent Wyoming a letter requesting that the two states get together and investigate the <br />allegations made by Three Forks Ranch, On April 26, 2002 Wyoming responded back that they would be <br />willing to take part in such an investigation, Colorado is in the process of establishing the team to undertake <br />the investigation and talking to Wyoming about dates to initiate the investigation, We have also just leamed <br />that trial on Wyoming's motion to dismiss will not occur until October 16, 2002, <br /> <br />28 <br />
