reperted that the state and the lecal c.onservancy districts, ~hat is,
the Lewer S.outh Platte and the Central Cel.orad.o Water C.onservancy
Districts, w~re jeintly c.ontributing .te a geelegic engineering investi-
gatien .of the Narrews site. ~e empleyed the firm .of Weedard-Clyde
and Asseciates, an i~ternatienally knewn.firm that specializes in gee-
technical investigatiens, te make an investigatien .of the Narrews dam
site and te review the design specificatiens prepared te date by the
Bureau .of Reclqm~tien~ We ~ew ~ave.a final repert frem that firm. .The
repert indicates that they see ne preblem with censtructing a safe dam
at the Narrows site.. They; .did, however.,: mak.e a number .of recermnenda-
tiens tepe.pursued as the dam des:i,gn preceeds.

Alse, an independent panel censtituted by the Bureau of Reciamatien fer
the same purpese made an almest identical,repe~t; Three.of the leading
geelegical engineering experts in the Unit,ed stat,es were called. to.-
gether te review the Bureau's design independently frem what .our cen-
sultant did. They came up with much the same c.onclusien. In beth
cases, recemmendatiens were made te incerperate certa:in features in the
dam design. I den't see hew there can be any questien whatseever abeut
the safety .of the structure.
