UL-UJ-:'O ii.JU1\m .('1\.UlVi nr.Ji.c.!"d~ ':>lii.ir..:> flii.l.c.A lV I,..nUI,..I\ LILr.

rUUL/UUJ

, -

We also asked for suggestions for a more detailed questionnaire on water transfer issues (that
might be available for review or distribution by then). The response to date has be minimal.

One of our new members, Texas State Senator J.E. "Buster" Brown, will be at our
meetings. He introduced S.B. I that was enacted last year, and co-chairs a related legislative task
force. Hopefully, he would be willing to share some of their experiences.

Other possible topics might include an update on EI Nino, global warming and the current
water supply outlook. We could ask someone from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center that is
also working with the National Drought Mitigation Center.

Also, the President didn't name his American Heritage Rivers in his State of the Union
Address. They might be named by March, or we could ask Karen Hobbs, CEQ for an update, or
perhaps someone from Rep. Helen Chenoweth's (R-ID) office. She is strongly opposed to the
program.

If there is time, I might report on the completion of the ground water recharge report -
finally! - and perhaps on any cum:nt federal legislation.

Call after you have had a change to review this draft agenda and consider what our
priorities should be.

Thanks,

Tony
