They are also developing a workplan to
eliminate the backlog of studies to be completed. We plan to
place additional staffing in the section for at least six
months to assist them.

. Office Clean UP and Reorqanization: The administrative team
has been assisting in the clean up of office materials,
reorganization of the files, and office space allocation. We
are working with the state Engineers office to develop a pilot
program utilizing optical scanning of files for electronic
storage. If this program proves to be practical, we will be
able to save considerable office space.

. Personnel: We want to extend our congratulations to Gloria
Lung upon her retirement. Gloria was an exceptional employee
who always did quality work and was always on the job. She
will be missed. As a result of Gloria's retirement, we are
seeking an office manager who will be a secretary to the
Director and supervise the daily operations of the
administrative team.

.

wilderness Water Riqhts: As many of you may be already aware,
the Clinton Administration is revisiting the status of
wilderness Water Rights. We have asked the Attorney General's
office to review the proposed reconsideration as to legal
interpretations.

. Washinqton. DC Trio: Jim Lochhead, Doug Robotham, and I had
an opportunity to travel to Washington, DC to meet with
officials from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Fish
and wildlife service to develop support for the RIPRAP, both
short and long term funding, impact of critical habitat
designations, and Colorado River issues. You will be updated
as to the trip results during this Board Meeting.

.
