Closure of the dam <br />is scheduled for August 1972, and all <br />earthwork should be completed by the end <br />of 1973. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The outlet works structure is scheduled <br />to be advertised next summer. Progress will <br />depend upon when the Denver Water Board's <br />conduit No. 10 is removed. Under current <br />planning, the outlet works is scheduled for <br />completion in October 1971. <br /> <br />The spillway structure is scheduled to <br />be advertised in December 1970. Work would <br />begin in the spring of 1971 and be completed <br />in the fall of 1973. <br /> <br />The administrative facilities buildings <br />were completed last month. <br /> <br />The major relocations involve the <br />Denver Water Board and the Colorado Highway <br />Department. A contract has been negotiated <br />with the Highway Department and the reloca- <br />tion of Highway 75 is well under way. A <br />four-lane bridge over the South Platte and <br />three other culverts are nearing completion. <br />Highway paving between these structures will <br />begin next spring with completion scheduled <br />for November 1969. Meanwhile, negotiations <br />with the Denver Water Board are continuing. <br /> <br />The relocation of utilities has begun <br />and will be a continuing work item until the <br />end of 1971. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />We are aware of the great demand for <br />water-based recreation in the Denver metro- <br />politan area. Consequently, we are making <br />every effort to develop the Chatfield <br />Reservoir to its maximum for recreational <br />purposes and other environmental aspects. <br />For the past year or so, we have been <br />gathering together all the ideas, sugges- <br />tions, and recommendations of several <br />
