<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT 3 <br /> <br />FPR 98-465 <br />Comprehensive Drainage Plan, City of Greeley, Sheep Draw Basin, October 1, <br />1997. <br /> <br />KEY ISSUES: <br />· The Corps of Engineers prepared the first floodplain report for Sheep Draw in the 1970's, <br />· The Corps of Engineers prepared another study in 198 I that provided updated information for <br />Sheep Draw, <br />· The results of the new 1997 study compare favorably with the 1981 Corps study, <br />· Portions of the study reach for Sheep Draw are within the city limits of Greeley, and other <br />portions are located within unincorporated Weld County, <br />. The City of Greeley has plans to annex all of the unincorporated areas along the Sheep Draw <br />study reach in the very near future. <br />· There are several new developments in the study area that will make use of the new floodplain <br />information, <br />· The Sheep Draw basin experienced a 50 to IOO-year flood event on June 12, 1997, <br /> <br />COMMUNITY RESPONSE: <br />The City of Greeley sent a letter to the CWCB requesting designation of their 1997 Drainage <br />Report for Sheep Draw. A meeting was held between CWCB staff and City staff to discuss <br />the designation process, floodplain mapping and regulation issues, and technical issues <br />related to the subject study. The City is very eager to have the Board's designation and <br />approval of the 1997 study and mapping. Designation and approval of the study will help the ' <br />City to make wise land use decisions, and it will help guide new development proposed near ., <br />the Sheep Draw floodplain. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br />The staff recommends Board designation of the floodplain resolution for the City of Greeley, The <br />detailed floodplain information contained in the Master Drainage Plan meets the Board's <br />"Floodplain Designation and Approval Rules". The designation will assure that the most current <br />floodplain information for Sheep Draw complies with state statutory requirements, <br />
