GRM was retained to
provide corrununity involvement and public information support to
Region 8 Superfund site's Corrununity Involvement Coordinators.

GRM provides a broad base of support. Each assignment is based on a specific task order and
the precise functional activity is dependent on the site and its stage in the clean up process. In
many cll'ses, the site has been identified and the corrununity has had significant prior interaction
with EP A or'local state agencies. We identify local media outlets to run public announcements
either through public notices or paid advertising. We negotiate rates and positioning on behalf
of EP A, create graphics and develop the content and layout for ads, buy the media, and rrioriitor
placements. We develop any collateral materials that assist staff in updating the community
including fact sheets, presentations, and newsletters. We have provided ad hoc support to the
Superfund staff by assisting in the development and production of the April 2001 Congressional
briefing documents and the content development of Region 8' s Superfund website. Additional
assignments include a needs assessment, development of training content, and delivery of
training to EPA staff on media relations. We provide media relations tactical support for each
Superfund site in Region 8.

Pertinent Project AtJributes: Information management; public relations; communications.

u.s.
