The College Boa~d

~BOi~ Resolution Research and Marketing (RRMI) conducts comprehensIVe
, "custom research projects for accredited colleges and universities across the
country. Mr. S!l1ldjit Kundu who manages these studies, primarily utilizes telephQne survey
methodologies with additional data gathered through focus groups, mailed questionnaires,
and, Internet surveys to conduct the research. The collected information allows edu.cational
institutions to assess the needs of students, administration, and the commuiuty-at-Iarge
regarding the delivery and choices of various services and programs. The projects are also used
specifically to market to various targeted segments in to increase enrollment in specific
programs, like continuing education and onllile learning. RRMI, conducts about 15 projects per
year for The College Board/Policy Studies in Education. Each study involves interviewing
respondents about college experiences and brand and image awareness in specific markets. All
these projects require the expertise of RRMI in survey design, data collection, tabulation, and
analysis.

RRMI has employed combinations of telephone, Internet, and mail methodology to ..-Sonduct
these studies. For closed populations (i.e. current students, alunmi, administration, faculty)
response rates of 85% or higher are typical. These response rates are achieved through
extensive follow-up (CATI programmed callbacks, follow-up campus mail !l1ld campus e-mail),
database cleansing & manipulation, and occasional incentives. For open populations
(surveying the general population), response rates are much lower, but are max4nized using
the same techniques. Data from the studies are tabulated instantly using RRMI CA TI systems
and software.
