<br />Water Supply and Storage Company <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />OUTLET WORKS COl\.1PONENTS <br /> <br />Long Draw Dam and its outlet works are shown on the attached photocopies of construction <br />drawings (Figures 1-8) so that the reader can better visualize the configuration of the dam <br />and outlet works and its mode of intended operations. The outlet works consists of the <br />following components: <br /> <br />1. Trash rack with steel grating with approximately 300 square feet of opening <br />(Figure 5). <br /> <br />2. Stop log slot at conduit entrance (not shown). <br /> <br />3. 149.5 linear feet of 54-inch cast-in-place reinforced concrete-encased steel- <br />lined pipe at 0.40% (Figure 5). <br /> <br />4. Control structure from top of dam to conduit invert (11.5 linear feet along <br />flow line) including: <br />· Dividing wall in center of control structure with 54-inch <br />. by 54-inch sluice gate (Figures 6 and 7), <br />· 60-inch by 60-inch slide gate at top of dividing waIl (not <br />shown), <br />· 54-inch by 54-inch sluice gate at entrance to downstream <br />outlet box (Figures 6 and 7), <br />· 6-inch pipe air vent in roof on gate house (not shown). <br /> <br />S. 9 linear feet of 5.25-foot by 6-foot to 6-foot by 6-foot transition box culvert <br />with 8-inch pipe air vent to crest of dam (Figure 5). <br /> <br />6. 128.5linear feet of 6-foot x 6-foot box outlet conduit at 2.00% (Figure 5). <br /> <br />7. 80 linear feet (horizontal distance) of open channel chute with flip bucket <br />(Figure 5). . <br /> <br />8. 18,000 square-foot plunge pool with 4-foot thick riprap and 2: I side slopes <br />(Figure 4). <br /> <br />9. 35 linear-foot Parshall flume with a 12-foot wide section for measuring flows <br />in Long Draw Creek (Figure 8). <br /> <br />Each of the above components was selected for reliability under a variety of circumstances, <br />including no inspections or operation and maintenance for as long as a six-month absence <br />from the sIte.
