"I just want to say one thing that I think
the Board would be interested in - that out of
the l4 people representing the 7 states, Len has
taken the lead in this; this is primarily his
brain child; and, at least until tomorrow when
it all falls apart again, he's got them pretty
well convinced that this is the way it ought to
go. I think that the Board ought to know that
the leadership in this matter has come from Len
and that the other six states have pretty well
followed that leadership. I was pleased and I
thought you would be too."

"I'd like to ask a question of Len. In the
California summary of this it mentioned the
problem that Yuma had in respect to this bypass
channel. Has that been solved in your proposal
pretty much?"

"This would solve Yuma's problem in that the
City of Yuma takes its water from the Colorado
River upstream but below the confluence of the
Colorado and the Gila and pump it. By taking
this highly saline water around it would help
cut down the total salinity during the winter
months, when they have their big problem, con-
siderably.

It is my understanding that the City of
Yuma is also rehashing their municipal water
supply so that they will sometime in the future
take their water from the Yuma main canal which
branches off of the All-American Canal at about
this point and crosses the river in siphons so
they will get, in the future, a much better
quali ty water even than they are getting now."

"Would the channel go through the City of
Yuma or go down south of it?"
