The Town of Morrison has requested 200
acre-feet and filed application 82-CW-425. Indian Hills Water District has
requested 25 acre-feet as reflected in its decree in W-8549-77. The
Genesee Water and Sanitation District has requested 250 acre-feet.

TABLE 2

Requests for Storage Space in
Bear Creek Lake
(1984)

Name

Amount Requested
(acre-feet)

Central Colorado Water Conservancy District
Mount Carbon Water and Sanitation District
Town of Morrison
City of Lakewood
Indian ~ills Water District
Genesee Water and Sanitation District
Evergreen Metropolitan \vater and Sanitation District

2,000
600
200
500
25
250
800

TOTAL

4,375

The Evergreen Hetropolitan Water and Sanitation District has requested
between 400 and 1,000 acre-feet. The City of Lakewood apparently has
actual needs of up to 500 acre-feet and has filed an application for water
rights in 83-CW-314.

.

All the entities, except Central and Lakewood, would be using the space in
Bear Creek Reservoir for the storage of existing municipal supplies for the
better management of their water rights. The City of Lakewood does not
provide its own municipal supply and therefore apparently is depending on
the storage of a 1984 water right to provide its intended use of golf
course irrigation. Central would be storing its 1984 water right as well
as other Water rights in the reservoir by exchange.

COST )\.LLOCATION

Although the stated value of storage space in Bear Creek Lake has been
given as 02,300 per acre-foot of space, it would appear that a more reason-
able and consistent pricing policy should be used which takes into the
account the current cost of developing storage space in the Front Range
area. Current capital costs associated with developing stcrage space in
the region are shown in Table 3. Proposed reservoirs selected include the
Narrows, Hardin, and Cache la Poudre storage projects.

'"!'he Narrows Project is a proposed Bureau of Reclamation project to be
located on the South Platte River west of Fort Horgan.
