The Grand Valley and Western <br />Colorado are growing and will continue <br />to grow as the energy industry explores <br />and develops the vast deposits of fossil <br />fuels in the surrounding area. More water <br />and power are needed to cope with this <br />growth. <br />The primary goals of the project are <br />hydroelectric power, municipal use, re- <br />creational opportunities, and enhanced <br />fish and wildlife habitat. Project planning <br />has taken into consideration both <br /> <br />economic and environmental values of the <br />area. <br />The project plan includes constructing <br />two dams, two reservoirs, and two power- <br />plants. Dominguez Reservoir, the larger of <br />the two, would provide water for municipal <br />use, as well as a large water surface area for <br />recreational use. Rim Basin Dam, Reservoir, <br />and Powerplant, located 8 miles upstream <br />from the principal dam and 800 feet above <br />the surface of Dominguez Reservoir, would <br />be a pump-back system for peak power <br />production. <br />This is an exciting and vital project, con- <br />ceived by and planned for the citizens of <br />western Colorado. <br />
