<br />Dominguez Dam and Reservoir Project on Gunnison <br />River bet'o/cen \,hitewater and Delta, Colorado <br /> <br />Condensed and pertinent information for consideration by Colorado l'ater <br /> <br />Conservation Board at their meeting to be held in Grand Junction, Colorado <br /> <br />in February 1982. <br /> <br />1. The feasibility study for the Dominguez Reservoir Project was authorized <br /> <br />by Congress in 1972. Our former Congressman, the Honorable Wayne Aspinall <br /> <br />was instrumental in obtaining authorization. <br /> <br />2. The Bureau of Reclamation proceeded to establish a multiobjective <br /> <br />planning team to provide assistance and/or input to the study. This team <br /> <br />is comprised of representatives of State and Federal agencies and local <br /> <br />interest groups, and private entities. <br /> <br />3. As the study progressed, seven water supply entities--Home Water Supply <br /> <br />Company, Inc. of ,fuitewater; Town of Palisade; Clifton Water District; <br /> <br />City of Grand Junction; Redlands Water and Power Company; Ute Water Con- <br /> <br />servancy District and Town of Fruit~--requested that Mesa County be the <br /> <br />purchaser and seller of water from the Dominguez Reservoir Project. The <br /> <br />Mesa County Commissioners agreed to act as the official sponsor and con- <br /> <br />tracting entity. To aid them in this effort they established the Mesa <br /> <br />County Dominguez Reservoir Advisory" Committee comsisting of representatives <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />from the seven water entities previously mentioned, the Delta County <br /> <br />Commissioners, the Mesa County Commissioners, and the City of Delta. The <br /> <br />advisory committee has been active in advising the public, civic groups, <br /> <br />news media, National and State Senators and Congressman and other <br /> <br /> <br />organizations as to the purpose and need' for the proj ect and progress of <br />
