<br />The cost provided by the Contractor in Change Order No.3 for the construction of the .
<br />mouse habitat indicated a cost of$4,Ol per cubic yard to place 26,000 cubic yards for a total cost of
<br />$104,173, It was understood that the Contractor's price per cubic yard was based on using on-site
<br />material, but not dredge material, If the Contractor would choose to use dredge material to
<br />construct the mouse habitat area, the $104,173 would b~ credited back the Town of Monument and
<br />the Contractor would be paid based on the unit price :for dredging, less a credit for disposing the
<br />dredging material on-site, The Contractor elected to construct the habitat area with dredged
<br />material,
<br />
<br />Reduction in cost = $104,173 + $13,132,50 (credit) = ($117,305.50)
<br />
<br />Per the terms of the Army Corps of Engin<ler's Individual 404 Permit and Biological
<br />Assessment the Town of Monument was required to construct a portion of the new 25-foot wide
<br />mouse habitat corridor just north of the southern line pf Zone 4b, prior to May 15, 2002. Given
<br />time restrictions imposed, the Town of Monument elected to have the work performed by the
<br />Contractor to ensure that it was completed on time, .
