<br />outlet works, tree growth on the dam face, and inadequate slope protection and spillway capacity, The
<br />proposed project involves rehabilitating the spillway, outlet works, and dam embankment, to include;
<br />replacement of the existing outlet spillway chute belowthe spillway crest, removal and replacement of the top
<br />10 feet' of the dam embankment to clear all existing vegetation, replacement of the outlet works with a new 24-
<br />inch steel pipe, and the removal of approximately 150,000 cubic yards of sediment from the lake bottom,

<br />The communities ofDacono, Frederick, Evanston, and'Firestone have consistently experienced flooding
<br />problems due to storm runoff from irrigated farmlands and adjacent developments, These communities have
<br />suffered many recorded flooding events, dating back to 1957, which caused in excess of $300,000 in flood
<br />related damages. With significant population growth occurring within the District, the District cooperated in
<br />the development of the 1-25 Corridor Master Drainage Plan, The master drainage plan recommended that the
<br />existing detention pond located on the south side of Frederick be enlarged to a regional detention pond, to
<br />mitigate future flood damage to the surrounding communities,. The regional detention pond would encompass
<br />over 60 acres ofland and store approximately 146 acre-feet of stormwater during a 100-year event. The design
<br />has been completed by the Sears-Brown Group, and w~s bid in May of2003, SEMA Contractor was awarded
<br />the Bid and commenced construction in August of 2002, The project is approximately 70% complete,
